BIRTH THERAPY FOR BABIES AND YOUNG CHILDREN
Birth Therapy sessions for babies and young children (0 - 5 yrs) focus on understanding how the birth and perinatal experience was for both mama/caregiver and baby/child. Sessions are facilitated to support the child’s playful curiosity, helping them to safely explore their sensory body and emotional experiences through welcoming tunnel-play and relational play with mama/caregiver.
Sessions are experiential, so are only available in-person in our therapy space in Te Puna, Tauranga, Aotearoa. A course of therapy is generally recommended for best therapeutic outcomes.

Birth Therapy sessions for Babies and Young Children (0-5 yrs) involve a safe, gentle and fun approach, with sessions typically including welcoming tunnel play and attachment based play between the child and mama/caregiver. The sessions are guided by the baby or child’s embodied experience of their birth, their creative impulse for re-enactment of their birth, and their age/developmental needs. Tunnel play offers a very felt embodied experience of the birth canal for little ones, and is an effective form of therapeutic play to help young children process their emotional distress or missing birth/post-birth experiences. When babies and young children are offered a therapeutic environment to process their birth and have their emotional experience also named and validated it helps them to feel felt, and this often helps you as mama/caregiver to process how the experience was for you.
